The Advanced Data Fellowship delivers the skills businesses need to embrace digital transformation – and deal with the challenges it brings. After completing this programme, apprentices will be able to confidently build analytics capabilities and use data to inform smarter decision making.
Overview
Delivered over two years, the Advanced Data Fellowship is a progression pathway for apprentices with a Level 4 qualification in Data Analytics – or those with significant experience as junior data analysts.
The programme is made up of 30-credit modules. Each 30-credit module lasts 12 weeks and includes apprentice-led learning and applied learning workshops. All modules at Level 5 and 6 contain a work-based project which forms a portfolio assessment at the end. There will also be an End Point Assessment that allow apprentices to report on a data transformation project which together with the portfolio, counts towards the outcome of the final degree.
All sessions are delivered virtually. This teaching is supported by cutting-edge learning materials accessible through our learning platform.
This programme dives deep into the world of data analysis and the tools that make it go round. Apprentices will learn to wrangle data in Python, create clear dashboards in Tableau, and implement machine learning algorithms. They’ll also build up expertise in managing system security, gathering technical requirements and managing systems development.

Junior/Senior Data Analysts, Junior Data scientists, Data Engineers etc. Those who analyse large amounts of data, ideally from databases. Suitable for those who already have a Level 4 qualification in Data Analytics.
To apply you'll need
- To have the right to work in the UK
- To have lived in the UK or EEA continuously for the past three years
- At least a grade of 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- To have passed the Multiverse Maths aptitude test
- Level 4 Data Analyst Qualification
- To have not previously studied the course content
- To not undertake any other qualification during your apprenticeship
- To be able to apply your learning to your role
- Please note: Candidates who can demonstrate they meet Level 4 learning outcomes through their work experience may be able to start at Level 5)

Creating efficient and secure Data Infrastructure
Data Infrastructure and Cybersecurity:
- Design simple data solutions
- Considerations of networking and security in storage and flow of data
- Evaluate data storage solutions, including SQL and NoSQL

Month 4-6
Accelerating data solutions with DevOps Principles
DevOps:
- Deepen understanding of a software system frequently used
- Create software
- Deploy software
- Use software to add efficiency to data analysis or processing
Month 7-9
Driving business value with Data Engineering
Data Engineering:
- Design and implement data solutions
- Role of data storage in automation and analytics
- Design a data engineering solution
- Use solution to enable decision-making and quality analytics
Month 10-12
Advancing your Data Strategy and Governance
Data Strategy:
- Align data projects and technology to strategic goals
- Understanding governance for data strategy and analytics
- How technology can more efficiently and effectively drive business value
Month 13-15
Managing Data Transformation Projects
Planning Data Projects:
- Plan a project
- Refine your approach to managing risk, stakeholders and budgets
- Refine your communication skills
- Gaining buy-in to kick off and independently lead on value-add projects
