We’re committed to creating a learning environment where every apprentice can thrive. No exceptions. No one left behind.

As part of our application process, we invite all apprentices to let us know whether they are disabled or require any additional support. This could be a physical disability or mental health or learning related. Once we have this information, we’re able to provide the necessary adjustments required.

No learner left behind

At Multiverse, we define additional needs as an identified cognitive, physical or mental health need that, without the right support, could disadvantage the individual compared to their peers. The additional support removes this disadvantage – creating a level playing field where all apprentices have a full and fair opportunity to thrive.

We have a dedicated Additional Learning Needs Team to support learners with accessing reasonable adjustments both on-course and in the End Point Assessment (EPA).

We know how hard it can be to be assessed for suspected neurodivergent conditions. You don’t need to be diagnosed to access this support and, if evidence is required for exam adjustments or additional funded support, our external partner, Support Connect(opens new window), can provide a non-clinical screener in lieu of a diagnostic report.

Additional learning support and adjustments

We offer a range of support and resources to help you succeed in your apprenticeship.

Individualised Support

  • Individual Learning Plans (ILPs): We create personalised ILPs for learners with additional learning needs. You do not need a formal diagnosis to access on-course adjustments through an ILP. An ILP outlines any additional resources or reasonable adjustments you might need to succeed, such as:
    • Physical resources (e.g., screen overlays)
    • Adaptive tools (e.g., subtitles)
    • Adjustments for assessments (e.g., extra time)
  • Non-clinical screeners: These can help identify potential learning needs and guide you towards appropriate support.

Learning Support and Resources

  • Support Connect: Our partnership with Support Connect provides access to a variety of services including:
    • Learning mentors: Offering regular 1:1 mentorship sessions.
    • Wellbeing mentors: Offering regular 1:1 wellbeing sessions.
    • Assistive technology: Including text-to-speech software, note-taking software, and organisational tools.
  • Multiverse tutors: You can book ad-hoc 1:1 sessions with our tutors for course-specific support.
  • Additional support: We can arrange for BSL interpreters, captions, and Specialist Support Professionals depending on your individual needs.

Assessment Adjustments

  • EPA Adjustments: We can also offer reasonable adjustments for learners with a demonstrated additional learning need or disability (either diagnosed or identified through a non-clinical screener) during the End Point Assessment (EPA).

Process for Receiving Additional Learning Needs Support (on-course adjustments)

If you recognise that you might be impacted by one or more of these conditions, follow these steps to access the support you need:

Step 1: Talk to Your Coach

Your coach plays a pivotal role in your learning journey. If you feel comfortable, discuss openly:

  • Any past or current challenges related to your learning needs.
  • Specific situations where you’ve felt disadvantaged, both in educational settings and in the workplace.
  • Previous supports or accommodations that have been helpful (or not).
  • Possible support options you might need from the Multiverse team.

If uncertain, that’s completely okay – use this discussion as a starting point.

Step 2: Assess Next Steps

If you have disclosed a disability during admissions, the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) team may have already contacted you. If not, your coach may refer you to the ALN Team. The ALN Team may:

  • Work with your Coach to advise how to best support you.
  • Contact you to create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) that outlines recommended on-course adjustments and signposts further resources you may find useful.
  • Offer further screening if you suspect you may have a learning difference but are not diagnosed - this may also lead to an ILP.
  • Refer you to external services that can provide learning mentors, wellbeing mentors and assistive technology.

Step 3: Follow Up

Remember, securing the right adjustments and support is an ongoing effort. Regular check-ins with your coach will help adjust and refine any support to ensure it effectively meets your needs. If you have an ILP, the ALN Team will also review this with you every three months, though you can always contact them before this if you have any concerns at aln@multiverse.io.

If at any point you prefer to directly contact the Additional Learning Needs team to discuss a learning or physical need, please email: aln@multiverse.io (UK).
