Off-The-Job Training (OTJ)
Learn more about OTJ and how it will work for you while you’re completing your apprenticeship.

What is Off-The-Job (OTJ) training?
Off-The-Job training or OTJ is a great opportunity for you to apply your learnings directly in your day-to-day role and is made up of time spent during your work hours, often equalling a minimum of 6 hours per week (this time varies based on the apprenticeship).
An example of this could be 2 hours in a workshop, a 30 minute chat with your coach, 30 minutes listening to a podcast and 3 hours applying your new skills to a project at work.
OTJ means you’ll have designated time to apply your learnings from the programme, revise and explore resources. Additionally, every minute that you spend in taught sessions with your coach, workshops and bootcamps contributes to OTJ.
Successful apprentices will need to complete OTJ.
